The Arch & Altar
Privacy Policy
Last updated: [MONTH] 2026
The Arch & Altar (thearchandaltar.com) is operated by Andrew Latham. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
When a parent creates an account and enrolls a student, we collect: parent name and email address, student name, and course selection. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe and/or PayPal — we never see or store your full card number. Basic technical data (like IP address and browser type) is logged automatically by our hosting provider for security purposes, as with any website.
How We Use It
We use this information to: create and manage your account and enrollment, deliver course access (lessons, recordings, notes, quizzes), communicate with you about classes, grades, and schedule changes, and process payments and refunds. We do not sell or rent your information to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.
Third-Party Services
Running the site relies on a small number of trusted services, each with their own privacy practices: Stripe and PayPal (payment processing), Zoom (live class delivery and recording), YouTube, unlisted (hosting class recordings for enrolled students), and Hostinger (website hosting). LearnDash and WordPress handle course delivery and account management on our own site.
Class Recordings
Live classes are recorded and posted, unlisted, for enrolled students to review. Recordings may include the names, voices, and appearances of other enrolled students who participate in discussion, and are visible only to students and parents enrolled in that same course — not to the public. See our Terms of Service for more detail.
Cookies
Our site uses standard WordPress and LearnDash cookies to keep you logged in and track your course progress. These are functional, not advertising, cookies.
Children’s Privacy
The Arch & Altar’s courses are designed for high-school-age students (roughly ages 14–18). Accounts are created and courses are purchased by a parent or guardian, not by the student directly. This site is not directed at, and does not knowingly collect personal information from, children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information without parental consent, we will delete it.
Data Retention & Security
We retain enrollment and grade records for as long as reasonably needed for your family’s transcript purposes, or until you ask us to delete them. We take reasonable technical measures (secure hosting, encrypted checkout via Stripe/PayPal) to protect your information, though no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about your family at any time by emailing info@thearchandaltar.com. Some information (like payment records) may need to be retained briefly for legal or accounting purposes even after a deletion request.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally; the “last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
