Catholic Studies Rooted in Tradition, Art, and Civilization
Andrew Latham has spent the last decade teaching high school students in Catholic private schools. He took his degree in Art History from Kansas State University with every intention of making teaching his life’s work — then family, life, and the family business intervened. He never let the classroom go: for ten years he has given his mornings to teaching at local Catholic schools before turning to the workday. The Arch & Altar brings those classes out of the classroom and makes them available to families everywhere — because challenging, faithful, accessible Catholic coursework for high schoolers is far harder to find than it should be.
A cradle Catholic and lifelong attendee of the Traditional Latin Mass, Andrew found that teaching art history to Catholic students refuses to stay in its lane. What began as a class about “pretty pictures” grew — through years of study, the guidance of traditional priests, and a library that has long since outgrown its shelves — into a full set of curricula: first Catholic Social Principles, then Apologetics, Liturgy, and Moral Theology.
These courses are built on the timeless sources: St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Robert Bellarmine, Pope Leo XIII, and the long line of teachers the Church has raised up in every age. But they are not museum pieces. Their entire purpose is to move young Catholics past rote catechism memorization — to the stage where they question honestly, understand what the Faith actually teaches, and can apply it to the life in front of them: friendships and cliques, social media and screens, money and work, citizenship and law, all the way up to the worship of our Creator in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Classes are taught live, in the Socratic style — students are expected to think, form opinions, and defend them charitably. Every session is recorded, every lecture comes with downloadable study notes, and every course carries real accountability: tests, grades, and a final exam suitable for your homeschool transcript.
Whether you need a single-semester supplement or a full two-year guided Catholic religion curriculum, these classes fit your family’s schedule — and give your student answers worthy of their questions.
